Some spaces on this planet sing to our hearts. Often we felt compelled to return to them often-it’s a journey home. That’s the theme for this year at Asilomar: The Journey Home. It just “feels right,” doesn’t it? Asilomar is definitely a space that will sing to your heart for many years to come.

With this year’s process of coming together of our organizations, this space feels like common ground. And what rings in my ears is, what we can imagine, is what we can create. What I see us creating is a time and space that allows our constituents to express the magnificence of who they are by supporting them with workshops that spark that fire that has been waiting to erupt! We hear story after story of how individuals are inspired by their time at Asilomar, or how they have found a peace and harmony that they had needed.

Sensing that, beginning with next week, lives will be changed or touched in the most wonderful of ways, has me sitting on the edge of my chair! Hope to see you all at Asilomar!

Bags are being packed

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since we packed materials, made plane reservations, and started the journey toward Asilomar. The event is planned down to the very last detail and the conference calls are finalizing as next week is the week we start moving in the direction of Pacific Grove! The very thought of being there with old friends, new friends, and incredible talent, all with the intention of making this one of the best of times, has my heart going pitter- patter!

Asilomar’s Friday night banquet

This year at Asilomar, Friday night is going to present a wonderful evening, starting with the banquet. It’s our chance to dress up a bit, but it is still left to your discretion as to how dressy you want to go.

I, for one, always think it’s nice after a week of dressing summer casual to have the opportunity to be lookin’ good! And the food menu will be extra special too! Yummy!

Why stay on Asilomar grounds?

First and foremost, getting to Asilomar is the highest priority. If you can swing the luxury of staying on the grounds, do so. There are some real pluses that staying on the grounds provide:

Being so close to everything going on.
The fun of walking with your friends all day and not even thinking of where to park the car.
A little tired from all of the excitement? Just go to your room and take a short break (maybe even a nap ) and be back in the action in no time.
A short walk to strolling along the boardwalk or visiting the beach.
Staying out late (for some of us that is 9:00 PM) and walking back to our room.
Feel like you’re on a cruise where all expenses are already paid for.
Being in the energy of New Thought thinkers 24/7.

There’s a reason why people come back to our Asilomar event year after year. There’s a connection there that you feel way past the time you finish the vacation. Think about how energized you can feel after a Sunday with your New Thought community/family and then multiply that by 100!

The very energy that goes in to pulling the event together is magnificent. The visioning, the creative development of the programs, the attention to details is endless; and that’s why it turns out so delicious!

It’s an event that can gift a lifetime of memories and a heart full of love. It’s an event that when we open to the possibilities, we can make huge steps in our consciousness. It’s a way to fill up our vessel, so we can share from the overflow. Whew! Look out Pacific Grove…here we come!

Ernest Holmes knew where to go for relaxation

As I have stood looking over the landscape of Asilomar or felt a slight mist of ocean breeze, I have often thought of this great founder of ours, Ernest Holmes. It’s really easy to sense his presence at Asilomar. It’s also very easy to recognize the energy that drew him time and time again to this magnificent location: one of relaxation, celebration, meditation, peace, and a place that allows you to break away and go within.

It’s not just the Asilomar grounds, but also the surrounding area. I’m a person that takes life a little slower-most of the time- and certainly with a grain of salt. The Monterey/ Asilomar area has me taking the opportunity to just breathe in the air and be – many times throughout the day.

At the same time, I thoroughly enjoy the Wednesday that the event holds open so friends and family can take the opportunity to tour the surrounding area. Here are a few things that will be going on during that time frame that are close by:

Can you believe it? Only sixty more days! That’s eight weeks from now! Only two more full moons until it’ll be time to go to Asilomar 2011!

Ok. Can you tell that I’m excited about this year at Asilomar? It is one of the most beautiful places on this planet. So many remarkable New Thought teachers have said “yes” to our request of their sharing the depth of what they know and believe. With a choice of selecting the week of July 31-August 6^th, OR the week of August 7^th- August 13^th, your choice will be perfect, as each week has an incredible line-up!
